Welcome to our library’s Inclusivity section!!! Our goal is to help you have a successful and accessible experience at the RCU. To help people with disabilities use our libraries more fully and freely, the library provides a range of services. You can obtain the services and accommodations you might require with the help of the information on this page. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with a Disability Service Librarian or explore the links provided. Throughout your time in college, we are here to address any questions you may have about disabilities.
Library Assistive Services
Accessible Facilities: Ensure the library facilities are accessible to all students, including those with physical disabilities. This includes ramps, elevators, and designated parking spaces.
Assistive Technologies: the library provides assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnifiers, and speech recognition software to help students with visual impairments or learning disabilities access library resources.
Library Staff Training: The rain library staff on disability awareness and how to assist students with disabilities effectively.
Accessible Formats: we offer reading materials in alternative formats such as braille, large print, or audio to accommodate students with different needs.
Collaboration with Disability Services: the library works closely with the university’s Institute of Inclusivity to ensure that the library meets the needs of disabled students.
Flexible Borrowing Policies: the library has flexible borrowing policies for disabled students, such as extended loan periods or waived fines for late returns.
Quiet Study Areas: Quiet study areas for students who may require a more conducive environment for concentration due to sensory sensitivities or other disabilities.
Accessible Online Resources: the Library Inclusivity Centre ensures that online resources are accessible to students using screen readers and other assistive technologies.
Library Orientation Sessions: We also offer specialized library orientation sessions for disabled students to familiarize them with available resources and services.
Feedback Mechanisms: the division has feedback mechanisms in place for students with disabilities to provide input on their experiences using library services and suggest improvements.
